Liviana the Huntingperson
a politically correct children's story based in mythology

Back to Fabulae Latinae

When she got to Hyderabad, she joined the hunting party. It did not take them long to find the deer, and they soon began shooting harmful projectiles from their vertical-held flexible instruments. However, the deer had keen instinct, and were able to dodge each and every shot. But they would not be able to escape Liviana’s aim. She took careful aim at one of the deer.

But before she let her aimed projectile go, a new idea came upon her. She put down her fatal instrument, and yelled for the other huntingpeople to do the same. Confused, they watched her walk up to the doe at the head of the herd. Speaking in flawless Cerval, the language of deer, she arranged for the herd and the people of Hyderabad to live in the peaceful coexistence that is proper between people and animals.

The city, both the people and the deer, had a great festival, and feasted on the green leafy food that is commonly considered ethnic to deer, for the two societies wanted to learn more about each other’s culture. From that time onward, the people and deer of the city of Hyderabad were forever grateful to Liviana for bringing their city together. She returned to her home, where her loving family rejoiced with her and they all lived equally happily ever after.
